OK, I'll admit it: This isn't exactly the usual open hardware entry you find on these pages. But I think their philosophy of "Empower yourself to become a producer instead of a consumer" works with the entire sharing/growing/giving mindset of the open community. So with that, here's the link to TheHomesteadAtlanta.com. Which seems to offer a large number of excellent classes on becoming more self-reliant around the urban homestead. From food, to knitting, blacksmithing, woodworking, etc. The local makerspaces offer classes in welding and fabricaiton and have lathes and saws available, so I think this dovetails well (a woodworking term, by the way).
