Ruby is a modern language that's gained traction with its Rails web application development framework. So much so that Ruby on Rails seems to be the de facto way to use this language. Championed by the folks at 37signals, it has a loyal following. They are now meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Centergy Building off Tech Square, details on their meetup page: http://ruby.meetup.com/83/
